The Box of Puppies

All 7 have been rehomed to families who adore them.  It has been an extremely hectic 3 weeks and my thanks to Val for fostering 3 of the little darlings.  Val and I got to know the puppies well over the past 3 weeks and they all had their own distinct personalities.  Pearl was the first puppy to leave us on 27th February and was adopted by Irene who lives in Nicosia.  I am awaiting further news and photos. We thank her for her kind donation. The bravest, noisiest, leader and explorer was Wesley.  But he’s so adorable.  Wesley is now called Alan Shearer and lives with Ann-Britt and her husband Tosh Wood on Akrotiri. He left us on 1st March.  Thank you for your donation to the fund.  Ruby has been adopted by Lisa Woods and her family of 4 boys including 8 month old twins.  Lisa is currently in UK recovering from major surgery and we wish her well.  Ruby is on ‘holiday’ with Val until Lisa’s safe return.  She is growing so quickly-Lisa won’t recognise her.  Diego went to live with Gary, Steph, and twins Jasmine and Jack Morris on 12th March.  He now answers to Swifty-named after Walsall FC’s Team mascot.  He was the opposite to his brother Wesley-thank goodness!  A beautiful, placid puppy who loved to chase the girls round the room, and having his tummy stroked. Thank you for your kind donation.   Lila and Blossom Adam and Emma Seed have adopted both Lila and Blossom-they could not choose between the 2 and took both!.  Blossom was the little runt of the litter and has been renamed Leah.  They are very lucky little girls to be able stay together. (Lila was my personal favourite out of the 7 and I miss her!)  They joined their new family on 14th March.  Lila was very loving and playful.  Blossom (now Thea) was quite independent and always sleeping in a quiet corner somewhere.  She is the cleverest though-housetrained already! And last but not least little Minnie (now Misty) who left us yesterday 15th March.  She has joined Carmen, Lee, Jack and Lauren who live on Episkopi Garrison not far from Diego, Lila and Thea.  Ruby will be living on Akrotiri not far from Wesley.  Minnie was very shy to start with but then she couldn’t get enough of running around Val’s garden.  I cannot thank the families enough for giving them loving, secure homes.

When Harry met Sally.  We rescued Harry and Sally on Friday 12th March and Harry had been rehomed by the next day.  Sally is now Roxy and is being fostered by Laura on Episkopi.  Harry is living with Karen who works in Ermes on Akrotiri and lives in Limassol.  They are about 6 weeks old and beautiful little puppies.  Thank you Laura and Wendy for all your help.

BRILLIANT NEWS.
Trixie has been reserved by Maggie Chapple who lives in Moni.  We have been caring for this little girl since 21st September 2009.  Watch this space for news of her trial.  Sadly it did not work out and Trixie is still with us.  She was too playful for Maggie’s older dog.

Toby.
Toby is being fostered by Lorna and her family.  He is a beautiful boy who was born in April 2009.  He is 50cm high and a Labrador X.  He is playful and good with children and cats.  He is obedient and house trained.  He is fully vaccinated and has recently been castrated and microchipped.  His owners are leaving in May so we need to find him a new home/foster home as soon as possible.  He is on the CYDRA website.  Sales of tickets for Friday’s event went well.  Thank you to Graham and Jo who have donated raffle prizes also my hairdresser Jan and Isobel. 500 euros was raised from the raffle.  Not sure how much will go to the Alfie Fund or Barc. It was a brilliant night but so so cold!   Ollie the little black puppy on the website was rehomed in February through CYDRA.  Thank you Helen for all your support

Thanks to Brian Smith for organising the event at Sunshine Beach last Friday.  The money raised was going to be divided between Barc and Alfie.  I will know on Friday what that amount will be.  Also please could you thank Electra my greek teacher for her kind donation.  She adopted a Chihuahua from us last December and called her Misty.  Since December last year the fund has rehomed 20 dogs.

Pearl the 3 legged terrier.  She has had her broken leg pinned- but Leo says she is managing to get around on her 2 front legs. Please could you go to the Homes wanted page to see a photo of her. We need a very special home for her.

This is the report from Leo, her carer.........................  Well little Ruby's history is not that strong ,for as you know I rescued her from the Polimedia shelter, where she was being attacked by the other dogs, due to her condition at the time. she had no known background as she was dumped at the shelter by her owners who just turned up and left with no explanation. Akis said that her age is approximately two years and that at some time she had undergone an operation on her left rear leg, which was not successful and this has left her with a partial disability. It is hoed that today's operation has in some way improved her ability to get around, but from what I have seen , she is very adept at getting around on two legs and she is a real active little girl, who deserves a loving home of her and plenty of TLC.

Urgent plea for Raffle prizes for the event being held on 19th March.  Plenty of tickets left-please support Barc and the Alfie fund. Many thanks to Nikki who was instrumental in finding a home for Pearl and for donating a prize of 20 euros worth of treatment at her beauty salon.   Many thanks to Wendy and Val who foster dogs for the Alfie fund (they never ask me for money) and to Rachel who has taken on the role of publicity officer and is doing a wonderful job.  Thanks also to Alison who regularly donates money to the fund raised from the money she raises from her home made preserves.

The little girl rescued by Leo has her leg amputated on Monday-she needs a foster/permanent home.  I am awaiting pictures of her.  She is a sweet little terrier-brown and white.
